Natural Product

Natural products are widely distributed in nature. Natural products are a class of chemical compounds generated by living organism including plants, animals and microorganisms. Natural products often possess pharmacological or biological activity and thus increasingly play an important role in drug discovery.

Plants have always provided a rich source of nature products to investigators. For example, paclitaxel, which is used as an important anti-cancer agent, was initially extracted from the bark of the Western Pacific yew tree.[1] Other natural products isolated from plants also include morphine,[2] and alkaloids[3]. To date, tens of thousands of pharmacological natural products from plants have been discovered. Additionally, marine organisms and various animals, such as snakes and spiders, are also rich sources of nature products. For example, ziconotid,e which is a selective N-type voltage-gated calcium channel blocker, is derived from Conus magus (a poisonous snail) and is used to treat neuropathic pain.[4] As a leading supplier of natural products for scientific research, Karebay provides our customers with the highest quality, and most competitively priced natural products.
