DescriptionMelan-A is a melanocyte differentiation antigen recognized by cytotoxic T lymphocytes. This sequence is a naturally presented Melan-A/MART-1 nonamer peptide. The Melan-A/MART-1 gene is expressed by normal melanocytes, as well as by most fresh melanoma samples and melanoma cell lines. This peptide appears to be a very common immunogenic epitope for HLA-A2-restricted melanoma-specific tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) and may be useful for the development of immunotherapeutic strategies.
