Biological activities

Alfuzosin hydrochloride is an 浼? receptor antagonist used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Alfuzosin hydrochloride can improve urinary voiding symptoms and increase urinary flow rates while causing few cardiovascular adverse effects.[1] Alfuzosin hydrochloride has a concentration-dependent relaxing effect on rabbit CC pre-contracted by 10 µM phenylephrine, with a mean pIC50 of 7.64.[2] Alfuzosin hydrochloride (10 and 100 nM) enhances the relaxation induced by tadalafil on precontracted strips. The combination of alfuzosin hydrochloride and tadalafil is more efficient to inhibit FRC-induced contractions than alfuzosin hydrochloride alone.[3] In vivo, alfuzosin hydrochloride-treatment partially attenuates functional and molecular changes in penises of PBOO rats.[4]
