Biological activities

Latisse is a prostaglandin F (PGF) synthase inhibitor. The IC50 of bimatoprost is 3.07 µM against ³H-PGF2α.^[1] In addition, latisse prevents PGD_{2 11-ketoreductase, prostamide D_{2 11-ketoreductase, and PGH_{2 9,11-endoperoxide reductase activities with IC50 of 5, 60 and 6 µM, respectively.^[2] C_{max of latisse is 10 ng/mL in monkey aqueous humor.^[3] Latisse induces activation of Akt and ERK. Latisse reduces NMDA-induced retinal ganglion cells death.^[4] Latisse enhances hydraulic conductivity of human trabecular meshwork cell monolayers by 78%.^[5] Latisse stimulates human scalp follicles in culture and rodent pelage follicles in vivo.^[6]}}}}
