Biological activities

Bisoprolol is a selective ?1-blocker and had been used widely in patients with cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension, angina pectoris, cardiac arrhythmias, and chronic heart failure [1]. It has a Kd of 2-3 nM at the ?1 receptor and a ?1/?2 selectivity of approximately 100-fold. It can lower blood pressure, protect the target organs and reduce the risk of cardiovascular events [2]. Bisoprolol was proved to increase the survival rate in high dosage [3].
