Biological activities

Ipratropium bromide is a short-acting β2-adrenoceptor agonist. Ipratropium bromide is the preferred bronchodilator agent for treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Ipratropium bromide can produce greater bronchodilation than conventional doses of a short-acting β2-adrenoceptor agonist.[1] Ipratropium bromide has a comparable bronchodilation effect in bronchitics. [2] Administration of ipratropium bromide results in a higher extent of absorption than administration with oral or aqueous inhalation formulations. [3]
