Biological activities

Nisoldipine is a calcium channel blocker of the dihydropyridine class. The IC50 of nisoldipine is 0.016 nM against basal tension.[1] In rat portal vein, nisoldipine concentration-dependently reduces the development of mechanical activity with an IC50 of 85 nM.[2] Nisoldipine concentration-dependently depresses the maximum effect of 5-HT on the coronary artery preparations.[3] Nisoldipine treatment in vitro significantly decreases [Ca2+]i, and significantly improves RBC-df.[4] In SA node preparations, nisoldipine reduces sinus rate and produces atrial standstill. [5] Nisoldipine also inhibits platelet aggregation mechanisms other than by alpha 2-adrenoceptor blockade.[6]

Protocols

In vivo: Nisoldipine is dissolved in 15% ethanol, 15% polyethylene glycol 400, 70% distilled water.[5]
