Biological activities

Nizatidine is a histamine H2-receptor antagonist. Nizatidine is commonly used to treat peptic ulcer disease and gastroesophageal reflux disease via inhibiting the production of stomach acid. The IC50 of nizatidine for AChE is 6.7 µM. Nizatidine inhibits AChE with a Ki of 7.4 µM. Nizatidine (0.3-3 mg/kg, i.v.) significantly and dose-dependently increases the motor index. Nizatidine inhibits gastric acid secretion with ED50 and ED90 values of 0.18 and 3.22 mg/kg in dogs, and 2.94 and 19.6 mg/kg in rats, respectively.[1] NIZ significantly reduces acid reflux by inhibiting both the rate of TLESRs and acid reflux during TLESRs.[2]
