Biological activities

Pipecuronium bromide is a new steroid muscle relaxant. Pipecuronium bromide is proven to be fast, potent, long-acting and nondepolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent without cardiovascular effects. [1] Pipecuronium bromide is structurally similar to pancuronium, but is approximately 20% more potent than pancuronium with an ED95 of approximately 35 mg/kg during intravenous balanced anesthesia.[2] Pipecuronium bromide has an inhibitory effect on pilocarpine-stimulated prejunctional M2 muscarinic receptors, but no effect on nonstimulated prejunctional M2- or on postjunctional M3 muscarinic receptors.[3]
