Biological activities

TZ-3 is an antifungal agent. TZ-3 is an imidazole derivative. The MIC of TZ-3 is 0.06, 0.1 and 0.1 µg/mL against Torulopsis glabrata,Cryptococcus neoformans, Trichophyton mentagraphytes, respectively. ^[1] TZ-3 inhibits Trichophyton rubrum mutant (gril) with a MIC of 1.0 µg/mL.^[2] TZ-3 also exhibits potency against most molds (Alterneria spp. and Acremonium spp.). TZ-3 suppresses Gardnerella vaginalis, Mobiluncus spp. and Prevotella biviadisiens with MIC90 of 16, 16 and 64µg/mL.^[3] TZ-3 significantly reduces the numbers of viable Candida cells recoverable from the kidneys of infected mice. After administration of a single oral TZ-3 (25 mg/kg) to beagle dogs or white mice exhibit sustained circulating levels of bioactive drug.^[4]
