Biological activities

Zilpaterol is a beta-adrenergic agonist.^[1] The IC50 of zilpaterol is 3.94 ng/mL against beta-adrenergic receptor.^[2] Zilpaterol dose-dependently prevents TNF- release and induces intracellular cAMP levels.^[3] Zilpaterol HCl at the dose of 1 µM decreases β1-AR mRNA, and zilpaterol HCl at the dose of 0.01 and 1 µM decreases β2-AR and β3-AR mRNA in myoblasts.^[4] Zilpaterol which is dosed at 500 µg/kg body weight reduces the TNF- plasma levels.^[3]
